There are two packages present here:
- Fungimol is a graphical package written in C++ as described elsewhere, including all associated plugins that
I'm free to distribute.
- Brennermd is a public domain Fortran molecular dynamics program by
Donald Brenner
and company.
Fungimol uses Brennermd. To make Fungimol a standalone
package, the Fungimol package includes everything in the Brennermd
package. Since the Brennermd package is a self-contained piece of
code that I didn't write any of, we still have it as a separate
package here.
Thus, in brief, you may want to install Fungimol, or
you may want to install Brennermd, but you don't want to install both.
To download and install Fungimol or Brennermd, do the following:
- Make sure you're seeing the current version of this page on the web. If
the present URL begins with
file:
, then you're reading the version
from your
local disk, so you should click here.
- If you haven't already done so, read the System
Requirements, Features, Missing Features, and Bugs section to make
sure you can run Fungimol, and that you want to.
- The following files are available:
- You can check the downloaded files for corruption
by using
md5sum
to compute checksums and then comparing the
checksums to the values listed here. If you are
concerned about malicious corruption, you should also use pgp
or
gpg
to check the signature on the latter file.
-
The
rpm
files have been tested under Red Hat 8.0 and are installed
in the usual way on that system.
-
Instructions for installing the
.tar.gz
files on other operating systems can be found in the
README or README.LINUXBUILD file
in the top-level directory created by unpacking them.
