Biblos database was build in the intention to be transparent to the user . So if you are curious you can easily see that the index files are nothing else but plain text files .
Buttons Explanation
Buttons in Biblos are organised in toolbars .
File toolbar
New - creates a new blank index file , prompting you to save
the current one if it has been changed .
Open - reveals a dialog box from where you can select a index
file to open
Save - saves the current index file . If it is the first
time you do for that file it you will be prompted for a name .
Save As - saves the current file under a different name
Import - helps you add to the current database an existent
index file . No existent database entry is overwritten , the selected file
is appended to the end of the database .
Info button - displays Biblos program version
as well as the running QT version .
Exit button - exits Biblos , prompting you to write to disk the current index file if it has been changed since last saved .
Management toolbar
Properties - presents a dialog where you can see some totals
about the selected object - not implemented yet !
Delete object - by pressing this button you will delete from the
database the selected object ( if it's a directory then it will be deleted
recursively ) . - not implemented yet !
Find - this button launches a dialog box that helps you
find specific files or directories by the criteria you select . The search
is made into the current selected directory in Biblos main window . This dialog
box is self explanatory .
Hint : you can press delete key in the file list from the find dialog
and the selected object will be deleted from the database ( see Delete
button ).
Scan button and Path combobox - to add a directory to the database enter the path to the directory in the path combobox and press the scan button . The process of adding a directory to the database can take some time but you can see in the status bar the directory that is curently being indexed so you can sit back and relax .
Browse button - helps you easily locate the directory that you want to add to the database . After you have selected it press Scan to begin the indexing process .
